International Film & Video Productions Save with Streamlined ATA Carnets

UK Production Companies Lower Costs, Increase Efficiency

London, UK – 15 February, 2016 - UK Film & Video production companies are reaping big benefits from an ATA Carnet Service recently launched by the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce (LCC) and its partner, boomerang carnets®.

Production companies across the UK are taking advantage of boomerang carnets®’ recent expansion to the UK and automation of the ATA Carnet application process. While other services have automated certain aspects of carnet issuing, boomerang carnets® takes the automation further than previously available. Over 700 carnets have been issued to UK production companies using the new automated service in the 12 months.

The new service has given television, film and video productions, as well as photographers, a more affordable, easier and faster way to obtain an ATA Carnet for international shoots. Anyone in the film and video industry in the U.K. with a computer and internet access can utilize the Liverpool/boomerang carnets® UK carnet application.  Chamber membership is not a prerequisite for getting the lowest rates.

A single, high-volume carnet user saved 2500 man-hours over 10 months using the new service due to the high level of automation and spot-on customer service. In addition to time savings, the cost of the service is 30%-50% less than typical.

ATA Carnets and their accompanying security can be applied for, signed and stamped electronically from anywhere in the U.K. using boomerang carnets ®UK’s online application. ATA Carnet pick-up locations are available in Liverpool and London.

The Liverpool Chamber’s forward-thinking Head of International Trade and Commercial Services, Andy Snell, had established an Export Centre there in 2013, and combined with their appointment by H.M. Customs as a carnet issuing body, the implementation of boomerang carnets®’ automated ATA Carnet application process was a no-brainer for Snell.

Ms. Sarah Woolley, Export Documentation Manager at LCC, brings her long-time experience as an Authorized ATA Carnet Issuer to the partnership.  She is a specialist in all LCC’s certification products and her extensive knowledge and experience meant that the new carnet issuing partnership hit the ground running.

Boomerang carnets® in the U.S. issues 7600 carnets annually (and growing) and is already referring U.S. production company carnet users with U.K. affiliates to the new LCC carnet facility.  As the U.S. carnet application has been in use by producers, cinematographers and photographers for over 10 years, U.S. users are quick to adapt to the U.K. version and enjoy the benefits of increased automation and reduced costs in the U.K.
